The Royal Oak Burton in Kendal
The Royal Oak serves as a true community pub in the heart of Burton In Kendal. Brought back to life in 2025 the brief was to create a traditional pub feel with strength of character. Many materials reclaimed from the original building were repurposed within its walls, old floorboards used as cladding, Laths from old walls made into dividing screens, cabinet doors found in the attic used to create a wall feature in the snug. Original plans and maps were reproduced and aged to create wall covering by the bar. Three distinct rooms each have their own feel, the dining room is smart for family dinners, the snug has a cosy feel and the main bar feels instantly comfortable like you could easily settle in. The WCs add a blast of colour and pattern with bold wallcoverings and tiles. The local community were quick to get back to the bar, welcomed by the water jet cut tile feature in the traditional entrance hallway.
