Cafe West Workington

Cafe West is part of the brilliant charity Westhouse Cumbria, supporting and creating meaningful employment for people with learning disabilities. This new build cafe in Hall Park Workington is their brand new flagship cafe, situated next to their potteries and gardens. The Cafe brief was to create a friendly, bright, accessible space and to have a retail area to sell the products made and grown on site. Form Interior organised the space plan and lighting, developed the palette of materials and mix & match furniture as well as designing joinery for the counter, wall displays, retail display and a toy unit in the family friendly area. The wall mural was designed to our brief by Jili Allen. The retail display is designed to be mobile for if there are events taking place so tables on lockable casters were designed, coupled with mixed crates to provide layered display heights, we also developed a visual merchandising guideline which is easy for the occupants to follow and replicate. The children’s area offers a purpose designed unit which keeps toys, books and beanbags tidy with a sofa for a relaxed feel. The theme is being extended out to their existing cafes to bring the new branded look across all their sites.
